Special Issue Information
3D bioprinting has revolutionized the tissue regeneration field by virtue of personalized fabrication, precise structural controllability, and excellent biocompatibility. Leveraging biocompatible bioinks integrated with active substances (e.g., cells and growth factors), this technology enables the accurate reconstruction of complex macroscopic architectures of human tissues and organs, thereby offering innovative solutions for the fabrication of engineered tissues, functional organs, and clinical tissue repair. This special issue aims to gather recent advances in engineered tissues and organs via 3D bioprinting technology.
Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
- Emerging technologies, innovative processes, and advanced equipment for 3D bioprinting and biofabrication.
- Development of cell-laden bioinks and 3D printing of biomaterials with biological components.
- Intelligent and biomimetic materials for bioprinting, as well as biomimetic manufacturing strategies.
- Natural and synthetic materials suitable for bioink formulation, including polymers, hydrogels, and micro-nano materials (metals and ceramics may be considered only when combined with cells or bioactive factors).
- Organoids and organ-on-a-chip platforms enabled by bioprinting approaches.
