We are pleased to announce that, effective 23 January 2025, Prof. Giuseppe Carlo Marano has been appointed as the new Editor-in-Chief of Design+.

Prof. Marano is a Full Professor of Structural Design at the Department of Structural, Geotechnical and Building Engineering (DISEG), Politecnico di Torino, Italy. He also holds research affiliations with Fuzhou University, China.

He received his PhD in Structural Engineering from the University of Florence and has held academic positions at several internationally recognized institutions, including visiting and professorial appointments in the United Kingdom and China. His research spans structural engineering, structural dynamics, optimization, seismic protection systems, and data-driven methods in structural design.

Prof. Marano has authored over 300 scientific publications in leading international journals and conferences and has contributed extensively to structural optimization and earthquake engineering research. He is also active in international research collaborations and serves on various academic and editorial boards.

Under his leadership, Design+ aims to further strengthen its international academic presence and continue promoting high-quality interdisciplinary research at the intersection of design, engineering, technology, and sustainability.
