Special Issue Information

The integration of digital technology and cultural arts stands as one of the most transformative developments reshaping contemporary creative and academic practices. With the growing accessibility of tools such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI), and interactive platforms, the creation, dissemination, and preservation of cultural narratives are being fundamentally reimagined.

Digital technology offers unprecedented opportunities to revitalize traditional cultural expressions. Through digitization, culturally significant artifacts—from ancient manuscripts to performing arts—can be both safeguarded and made accessible to global audiences. Emerging tools further enable artists to engage dynamically with cultural heritage, fostering innovative forms of storytelling that bridge historical context and contemporary experience. Interactive and immersive environments, for instance, allow users not only to observe but also to actively participate in cultural dialogues, deepening connections to collective memory and emotional resonance.

This special issue invites original research, critical reviews, and conceptual papers that explore the evolving role of digital technology in enriching, challenging, and sustaining cultural arts. We welcome contributions addressing, but not limited to, the following topics:

  • Digital reinterpretations of traditional cultural practices
  • Virtual and augmented reality as platforms for cultural preservation and education
  • Cross-cultural digital collaborations and their societal implications
  • Exemplary case studies in digital art and heritage innovation
  • Ethical, ontological, and curatorial considerations in digital cultural production

We seek interdisciplinary perspectives that critically examine how digital tools are expanding the boundaries of cultural expression and participation in a globally connected world.
