Special Issue Information

Dear Collegues,

Three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting is gaining an increasing interest for the encouraging perspectives of oral health improvements. It has been defined as the computer-aided production of bioengineered constructs with the aim of reconstructing tissues and/or organs.

In particular, dental tissues and dental prosthesis printed with biological scaffolds seem to be promising in future healthcare. Current research is aiming at regenerating alveolar bone, periodontal ligament, dentin and enamel with the intention to overcome the limits and the availability of autologous grafts. Additionally, new perspectives in molecular analysis of bioprinted frameworks, bioprinting of sustainable materials, mathematical modeling of bioprinted constructs and innovative bioprinting technologies, would be suitable.

This special issue aims at gathering the most recent literature on 3D printing in the dental field. In vitro experiments, clinical research, laboratory analyses, case reports and reviews are welcome in the present Special issue.
