Special Issue Information

Three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting has emerged as a highly explored additive manufacturing technique to develop biomaterials and medical devices with or without cells. While significant advancements have been made, there are some challenges in creating self-supporting and intricate 3D structures largely due to the limitations with available bioinks and printing approaches. This special issue aims to bring together a collection of fundamental and applied papers by leading global experts in 3D bioprinting. The issue will highlight foundational concepts of 3D bioprinting alongside the latest technological developments in the field. Key areas of focus include the principles and applications of 3D bioprinting, materials and methods for developing bioinks, generation of tissue models, and principles and applications of 4D bioprinting. It will also address the recent innovations in the 3D bioprinting field.
