The 46th Live Lecture of JCBP: Advances in Multi-Omics Research on Cognitive Impairment in Schizophrenia

The Journal of Clinical and Basic Psychosomatics will hold this live lecture titled "Advances in Multi-Omics Research on Cognitive Impairment in Schizophrenia" on Bilibili and the WeChat Channels platform at 20:00 on October 29, 2026 (GMT+08:00).

Schizophrenia (SCZ) is a severe psychiatric disorder characterized by positive symptoms, negative symptoms, and cognitive impairment (CI), affecting more than 23 million people worldwide and imposing a substantial global disease burden. Cognitive impairment encompasses multiple domains, including processing speed, attention, working memory, learning and memory, and social cognition. It often emerges before the onset of the illness and persists throughout its course, severely compromising patients' social functioning and quality of life. Although current antipsychotic medications are effective in alleviating positive symptoms, their efficacy in improving cognitive impairment remains limited, making it a major barrier to functional recovery in patients with schizophrenia.

In recent years, advances in genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and microbiomics have provided insights into the potential molecular mechanisms underlying cognitive impairment in schizophrenia from multiple perspectives, including genetic susceptibility, gene expression regulation, protein function, metabolic abnormalities, and the gut–brain axis. Individual omics approaches focus on specific molecular levels and facilitate the efficient identification of molecular biomarkers within those domains; however, they are insufficient to fully elucidate the complex pathophysiological mechanisms and clinical heterogeneity of cognitive impairment. By integrating evidence across different molecular levels, multi-omics analyses enable the identification of key molecular networks and offer new avenues for investigating the mechanisms underlying cognitive impairment, identifying biomarkers, and facilitating precision stratification.

This webinar aims to review advances in single-omics research on cognitive impairment in schizophrenia and explore the advantages and potential applications of multi-omics integration, providing new perspectives on the early identification and precision intervention of cognitive impairment.

We are honored to invite Dr. Yeqing Dong, Assistant Research Fellow and Master's Supervisor at Tianjin Anding Hospital (Mental Health Center of Tianjin Medical University), as the speaker, and Dr. Yaoyao Sun, Associate Research Fellow at Peking University Sixth Hospital, as the moderator. Scholars and researchers are warmly welcome to join this academic webinar.
