Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This special issue focuses on recent advances in 3D bioprinting technologies, bioinks, and bioprinting-enabled strategies for cartilage organoid engineering and tissue regeneration. Particular emphasis is placed on the development of innovative bioinks, printable biomaterials, and advanced bioprinting platforms that enable precise spatial organization of cells, extracellular matrix components, and bioactive factors. Emerging approaches, including cell-laden bioprinting, multi-material bioprinting, and biomimetic printing strategies, are highlighted for their potential to fabricate structurally and functionally relevant cartilage organoids and osteochondral tissue constructs.

Contributions addressing the design and optimization of bioinks, printing parameter regulation, incorporation of functional components, and the development of next-generation bioprinting systems for cartilage repair and tissue regeneration are particularly encouraged. This special issue aims to advance the understanding of how 3D bioprinting technologies can integrate material science, cellular engineering, and regenerative medicine to overcome current challenges in the fabrication of complex tissue architectures. By highlighting innovative bioprinting methodologies and their translational applications, this issue seeks to promote the development of clinically relevant 3D-bioprinted cartilage constructs and advanced therapeutic strategies for cartilage repair and osteochondral regeneration.
