Associate Editor Prof. Yilong Wang Co-Leads New Special Issue on Cerebro-Cardiac Fluid Circulation
20 May 2026

Brain & Heart is pleased to announce the launch of a new Special Issue, “Cerebro-Cardiac Fluid Circulation,” co-led by Prof. Yilong Wang, Associate Editor of Brain & Heart, and Prof. Xiaochuan Huo as Guest Editors.

The circulation of fluids within and between the brain and cardiovascular system has emerged as an important area of research, with growing implications for understanding the pathophysiology of neurological and cardiovascular diseases. Recent advances in neuroimaging, vascular biology, and fluid dynamics have provided new insights into the mechanisms underlying cerebro-cardiac interactions, creating opportunities for innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

This Special Issue aims to bring together researchers and clinicians working at the intersection of neuroscience, cardiovascular medicine, and translational research to explore the role of fluid circulation in maintaining brain and heart health. It seeks to advance understanding of the complex physiological connections between these two vital organ systems and to highlight emerging discoveries that may inform future clinical practice.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Cerebral and cardiovascular fluid dynamics;
  • Neurovascular and cardiocerebral coupling mechanisms;
  • Glymphatic and lymphatic circulation systems;
  • Cerebrospinal fluid physiology and pathology;
  • Fluid circulation in stroke, heart failure, and neurodegenerative diseases;
  • Advanced imaging and monitoring technologies;
  • Translational and clinical studies related to brain–heart interactions.

By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange, this Special Issue aims to promote innovative research that enhances our understanding of cerebro-cardiac communication and its implications for human health and disease.

The Editorial Office warmly invites researchers and clinicians to contribute original research articles, reviews, perspectives, and other scholarly works related to this topic.
