Burn care; Surgery; Burn wounds; Plastic surgery
Professor in the Department of Surgery and the Department of Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences at McMaster University, and he also holds a professorship at the University of Toronto. Dr. Jeschke’s research focuses on uncovering the challenges that older adult burn patients face and understanding why they often experience poorer outcomes. His work examines how severe burn injuries accelerate biological aging processes by impacting tissue plasticity, immune function, and metabolic resilience. Through studying these age-related declines and the cellular and molecular changes that contribute to them, Dr. Jeschke aims to identify therapeutic targets to enhance recovery and counter the accelerated aging observed in trauma survivors.

Other research interests include developing a passive immunotherapeutic strategy for treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease. In addition, he has been involved in the development of a non-invasive MRI technique to measure intracranial pressure and brain compliance, and has been exploring the efficacy of this modality in managing a variety of patients with neurologic problems where intracranial pressure is an issue. Dr. Lichtor is a member of the neurosurgery faculty at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois.
