Since he got his University degree he focused his academic interest on environmental modelling, whole system approaches to environmental management systems, environmental sustainability issues, natural capital assessment and ecosystem functions and services evaluation. He studied both natural systems and anthropic influence on natural integrity but he also developed management systems to minimize environmental impacts due to human activities.
The value of his work is well testified by more than 70 international scientific publications and by the participation to more than 40 international scientific conferences.
