This special issue of Journal of Geospatial Technology focuses on the innovation of geo-artificial intelligence (GeoAI) technologies in sustainable urban planning. Rapid urbanization poses great challenges for urban infrastructure, resource utilization, environmental protection and public services. GeoAI, which combines geospatial technologies and artificial intelligence, holds great potential to enable more intelligent, efficient and sustainable urban planning and management. This special issue seeks original research and application papers on topics such as urban land use optimization, transportation planning, environmental monitoring, emergency management, digital twin construction, urban vibrancy analysis and prediction. The goal is to provide insights into how GeoAI technologies can help achieve the objectives of smart, green and inclusive urban development.
