In recent years, the introduction of Internet of Things (IoT) and the inauguration of multiple technologies, including ubiquitous computing and automation, have fueled the emerging development of smart technologies and applications. These innovations have led to the introduction of smart cities. Smart cities have as a priority the enhancement of urban living and the improvement of every aspect of everyday life. The purpose of this Special Issue is to provide insights into the complementary approaches related to smart city challenges. Different technologies need to be discussed, including artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud computing, data mining, Internet of Things, business analytics and business intelligence. The applications of smart cities cover a wide range of thematic topics, including the digitization of public administration, municipality services, business, education, culture, tourism, health, transportation and mobility for the benefit of citizens, businesses and the public.
