Agricultural Water and Soil Management
The world is currently grappling with three key issues: population, resources, and the environment, with water resources playing a crucial role. China, as a major agricultural nation facing water scarcity, is particularly affected by inefficient agricultural irrigation. This has limited agricultural development, making water-saving agriculture a priority. Since 2010, agricultural water conservancy research has been initiated, exploring the environmental effects of water-saving irrigation. Leading multiple projects, including the Postdoctoral Science Foundation of China and Fujian Provincial Science Foundations, my team has achieved significant results, including provincial awards and invention patents. This monograph summarizes recent advances in water-saving irrigation technology, offering valuable insights for researchers, educators, and students in agriculture-related fields. Though a program in agricultural water conservancy remains absent, the gap is especially evident in the research on irrigation and water management for specific crops and landscapes in Fujian Province. This book aims to deliver the following messages to its readers:
- focusing on the application of water-saving irrigation technology in agricultural production
- suggesting suitable irrigation modes for multiple agricultural systems
- highlighting impacts of irrigation technology on agriculture
- establishing a future discipline of agricultural water conservancy
